Handcrafted Collage of British Butterflies

This is a handcrafted unique artwork featuring two British butterflies with colourful flowers of quirky botanicals. The smaller butterfly is a Silver Spotted Skipper which is quite rare and only appears in the chalk downs of Southern England.Sadly it has declined significantly over the last 50 years but since 1980 has partially recovered.A small butterfly with brown and orange on upper wings and silver spots on the underwings. The larger butterfly is a Glanville Fritillary of medium size also rare.It is confined to the coastal areas of the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands. It remains a vulnerable species. It is orange and brown chequered with cream bands on the underwings. Both these butterflies flew out of my Victorian textbook having been copied from the original plates.I have collaged them onto white board along with some daisies and violets and text.At least these magical creatures can have a new life being seen again within artwork. This collage is framed with an off-white mount board which is not attached enabling more choice when choosing how to frame it. This picture would enhance any wall and if two or more are placed together the result would be a very bold colourful display. Anyone loving butterflies would appreciate this as a gift. The artwork measures 20 x 20cms and will be presented in a protective sleeve.
