Handcrafted Collage of an Orange Tip and Duke of Burgundy Butterflies

This unique handcrafted artwork shows two beautiful butterflies amongst some colourful flowers which have been cultivated in my imagination! The top butterfly is the Duke of Burgundy and is a small orange and brown butterfly found in chalk and limestone grasssland in southern England. After a serious decline in the 20th century it is now recovering thanks to concerted conservation. The Orange Tip butterfly is a medium sized white butterfly with bright orange wing tips on the male and black on the female often seen widespread in gardens and hedgerows. Both butterflies have escaped from my victorian text book copied from the original plates to fly amongst the vivid botanicals of orange, green and white which mirror those of the butterflies. The collage is worked on a white board with some copperplate text and dotted with spots of gold paint. This picture would enhance any room or space and when two or more are grouped together they would make a colourful display. The board is framed with an off white mount board which is not attached as this provides choices when framing- colour and sizes for example. The collage measures 20 x 20cms and will be presented in a clear protective sleeve. Postage is charged only at the rate for the most expensive item so no additional charges for multiple items.
