This highly visual and interesting driftwood sculpture is mounted on a reclaimed and waxed wooden Oak base and has been lovingly handmade and crafted by Steve Hutchins of Grove House Art and called THE REARING TURTLE Turtles can make sudden defensive lunges if they feel scared thrusting their body forward. I believe that this sculpture visualises and displays that defensive attacking lunge by the Turtle. The highly distinctive Turtle like form of the driftwood has been shaped entirely by the relentless action of the sea over time. It displays flowing grain patterns and elegant natural curves, whilst revealing a fascinating collection of weathered hollows, knots and sculptural textures including some retained bark, offering strikingly different visual perspectives. The intricate natural coloration of the wood and bark, together with the sea weathered textures and shapes, create an almost landscape like pattern, making every viewing angle a new discovery. The wooden Oak base has been lightly polished with a premium finish natural beeswax to seal the surface, as well as providing a durable sheen to enhance the overall appearance.
