Title: The Stately Neighbour (Mute Swan)
Format: Original Hand-Finished Studio Piece
Dimensions: 20 x 20 cm square artwork displayed on a premium 21.5 cm custom-fit backing board
"A premium digital reproduction of an original design by Jamie Poole. Individually hand-embellished by the artist."
This artwork belongs to 'The Wave' and 'The Wing' crossover of our native British wildlife trilogy, inspired by the slow water channels and hidden habitats of the Nene Valley. It captures the quiet pride of the mute swan-our stately neighbour-standing as a silent tenant among the rank rushes of a local country pond. The entire piece is framed by an intimate, handwritten border of naturalist poetry that reads directly into the landscape:
"The blue-washed pool reflects in lucent-glass, Where silver-fins beneath the ripples glide; A snow-white lord stands in the daisy-grass, Our stately neighbour in his quiet-pride. A silent tenant of the marsh, He curves a supple neck of noon-day light, To watch where nodding sedges guard the bank. With waxen-bill and eye of soot-dark sight, He claims his place among the rushes' rank."
By weaving poetry into the animal's plumage, this piece connects our deep literary lineage with contemporary action, celebrating environmental optimism and the preservation of our precious local waterways.
The Hand-Finished Process
Every piece in this variable edition is completely unique. The atmospheric background layers, distant duck houses, and sky textures are individually composed using custom brushes within digital software. This multi-layered design is outputted onto heavy 300gsm fine art paper, chosen for its beautiful, porous texture that grips physical media.
