The Story of the Piece
This piece captures a fleeting, quiet moment of discovery within the local British landscape. Inspired by the secretive nightingales nesting in the thick brambles of Strawberry Hill, this artwork celebrates the hidden, rare complexity of native wildlife. The deep visual landscape functions as a text-painting. It seamlessly weaves a rich word-hoard of shredded poetry from Northamptonshire naturalist poet John Clare directly into the visual strata of the bird's plumage and habitat. By embedding this historic literature, the printed word literally becomes the pigment of nature, inviting the viewer to watch narrowly and look closer.
The Handcrafted Process
Every single studio multiple is treated as a unique, variable edition. The background layers are composed using an energetic analog collage of painted papers and fragmented text. This vibrant visual playground is flattened via a high-resolution scan and outputted as a flat, smooth foundation using archival pigment inks on high quality tinteretto gesso paper. The bold, architectural line work of the calling nightingale is then traditionally overprinted using oil-based relief inks on a hardwood press, hand-built in the artist's garden studio. Finally, each piece is individually hand-embellished and reactivated by the artist with subtle pencil marks and hand-drawn details, ensuring that no two pieces are ever identical.

Authentication: Hand-signed and titled by the artist in graphite pencil within the lower margin.
Protection: Secured safely within a premium plastic-free glassine envelope for an eco-friendly, retail-ready finish.
