About this item
Perfect for history lovers looking for a journal, sketchbook or notebook! The amazing vintage barkcloth fabric that I used for the cover features a screen printed adaptation of some of the most famous scenes from the iconic Bayeux Tapestry. The cover of this one-of-a-kind book has a stylised version of Scene 33 of the tapestry, which depicts the appearance of Halley's Comet in April 1066 and King Harold's fearful reaction it as an omen of impending disaster. The comet can just be seen on the back cover of the book. The fabric was manufactured in 1951 by William O'Hanlon & Co. who were based in Manchester, the historic heart of the UK textile industry. O'Hanlon were well known for historical novelty prints and bayeux is now rare and highly sought after by collectors. I was lucky enough to source a previously unused length which I've used for this unique range. Product Features: - Hardback A6 Size Cover - 72 plain white 120 GSM pages - Co-ordinating green satin ribbon page marker and matching - Suitable for a range of media including: Graphite pencil, coloured pencils, gel and rollerball pens - Matching items are also available - The final photo shows the pattern placement on the back of the notebook This book is made with care from high quality 120gsm smooth white paper which I have carefully hand cut, folded, stitched, and glued. It is then casebound using high quality book board covered with genuine vintage cotton barkcloth from the 1950s. Pencils are for display purposes only and not included with the book. Ref: 10224
