Full description

The Becoming Bee is a shrine for becoming.

She honours the season of building a life; the years of growing, nurturing, loving and working. The years spent gathering sweetness, creating homes, raising children and discovering purpose.

Yet The Becoming Bee reminds us that becoming is rarely a destination. It is a lifelong act of slowly understanding who we are beneath all that we do.

Part artwork, part keepsake and part companion, this one-of-a-kind textile shrine opens to reveal a hidden sanctuary; a tiny embroidered daisy wreath nestled within a soft felt-lined chamber. Hidden behind leaf-shaped doors, this small stitched world celebrates growth, abundance, self-discovery and the beauty of an ordinary life well tended.

Handmade in my Leicestershire garden studio, each Curious Shrine is created slowly using layers of painted and dyed fabric, hand embroidery, decorative stitching, felt, glass gems and mixed media embellishments. No two shrines will ever be exactly alike.

Symbolism within the shrine includes:

The Bee - community, creativity, purpose and abundance

Daisies - joy, simplicity and finding sweetness in everyday moments

Sun and moon - balancing work, rest and the changing seasons of life

Opening doors - honouring the hidden parts of ourselves waiting to emerge

Curious Shrines are inspired by folklore, the turning year and the changing seasons of a woman's life. They are intended as small stitched sanctuaries, offering a place for story, reflection and a little everyday magic.

Approximate size:

Height: 20-22 cm

Width: 13-15 cm

Depth: 3 cm

Your shrine will arrive carefully wrapped in tissue paper within a sturdy kraft presentation box, accompanied by its own printed story card and artist information card.

Price includes tracked UK postage.
