About this item

Materials
Shetland Wool, Pure sheeps wool, 100 percent wool, Wool
Made in
Ross-shire
Description

Handknitted Fair Isle bookmark, knitted with 100% Shetland wool (Jamieson & Smith, and Jamieson's of Shetland). The pattern is a traditional motif used in Fair Isle knitting, and features background and foreground colour blending. The bookmark has no knots, so will sit flat inside your book. It measures 19.5 x 5.5cm including the fringe. Please note that although these bookmarks have been blocked to lie flat, they are best stored inside your book to prevent the curling that may naturally occur due to the nature of stocking stitch. Bookmarks are packaged in a biodegradable clear 'Nativia' cellophane bag and backed with kraft card, as pictured.

Stranded colourwork knitting, particularly Fair Isle, is my first love! I've been asked many times if I can knit jumpers for people, but it's so time-consuming I'd have to charge a fortune! I wanted to produce some smaller pieces of knitting that might be more affordable for people. I realise it's still expensive for a bookmark, but the price reflects the time that's gone into making it. I hope it might make a nice gift (or a self-gift!) for a booklover somewhere.
