About this item
This is my cute hedgehog. Handmade with earthenware clay using the pinch-pot and coiling methods. Its features have been attached with slip and the quills have been defined with a sculpting tool. It has been bisque fired and then gently sanded before applying a red iron-oxide wash. The iron-oxide has been applied with a brushed and then sponged off to give definition to its quills. A darker shade of iron-oxide has been applied to enhance its eyes and nose, after which it has had a second kiln firing to 1080C. Approximate size: 7cmH x 7.cmW x 17cmD (nose to tail) Due to the handmade nature and natural materials each piece is unique with subtle variations in size, shape, and finish.
