Full description

A whimsical textile landscape with a colourful sunset sky. The sky is a photograph taken by a friend and then printed to fabric. I have tried to use all old curtain sample books for this, plus a couple of pieces from an old duvet! These fabrics are then cut or torn to create layers which are carefully laid down to create hills and then free motion wobbled in place. A little fabric owl is the carefully cut out and ironed in place . Some scrim and hand dyed silk has been added across some of the hills and along the bottom to add texture, and the final step is to attach some text printed to hand made paper. The work is then double mounted with antique white mounts ( aperture size is 14cm) and framed in a white wooden frame measuring 28.5 cm. This picture definitely has some sense of atmosphere and movement as the owl hovers, looking for a tasty meal! And the sense of wild things and the natural world is brought to life with the text message. Perfect gift to yourself if you love owls and nature, or for a friend who loves fabric artwork.
