Full description
A whimsical textile landscape with a really colourful sunset sky. The sky has been painted and then printed to fabric. I am experimenting with painting my own fabric in order to make it truly unique. This picture uses silk and old linen plus anything else I had to hand. The fabric is painted and then stamped before finally embellishing with some pens and gold inks. The hills are created by tearing and cutting strips and carefully laying them down to create a landscape. The layers are secured with lots of free motion wobbles. I've then added some machine embroidery stitches to create additional detail. The final steps are to carefully place Geoffrey, the Great Dane who sits patiently in the corner, followed by the quirky handmade paper text declaring that all you need is love… and a dog! The work is then double mounted with antique white mounts ( aperture size is 14cm) and framed in a white wooden frame measuring 28.5 cm. I love to include dogs in my work……. I have a black Labrador , Ted, who features in much of my work. Perfect gift for a dog lover friend, or anyone who wants a happy cheerful picture for their wall.
