Full description
Mother Goddess is a one-of-a-kind mixed-media painting about motherhood, protection, creation and the divine feminine.
A goddess with a third eye cradles a moss-covered world with two sleeping babies. Inspired by my life as a twin mum and love of gathering nature treasures, she creates peace and safety for new life.
She is a personal Earth Mother archetype rather than one named deity, for those drawn to Gaia and Triple Goddess imagery.

21 x 29.7 cm on 300 gsm paper
Approximately 1 cm white border
Signed on front and reverse

COLOUR PALETTE
A jewel-toned indigo and violet background surrounds pastel aqua, mint, blush pink and cream, with moss green, black, metallic gold and mirror silver. Metallic details change with the light.
SYMBOLISM
The pentagram represents protection; three droplets suggest mother's milk and care; and a stylised yoni honours the divine feminine. The triangle represents mother and twins, and stability. The spiral and infinity symbol evoke life's cycles and continuity.
The triple moon represents maiden, mother and crone, with this piece in the maternal stage. Cosmic symbols and cell-like alcohol blooms connect the universe with life's smallest beginnings.
INFLUENCES AND PROCESS
Flowing colour is influenced by Agnes Cecile, pastel geometry by Hilma af Klint, and luminous gold by Gustav Klimt.
Made with traditional and metallic watercolour, Posca pens, pencils, charcoal and mirror-chrome pen. The collaged figure has a torn, layered edge that catches the gold.
