Ahoy there! Meet The Helm, a unique handmade crossbody bag made from a pair of mid-blue denim jeans that have been given a whole new lease of life.
Inspired by the sea, sailing and adventures on the water, the front flap has been decorated with a beautifully detailed machine-embroidered ship's wheel, together with the words 'The Helm'. The embroidery gives this bag a distinctive nautical feel while keeping it practical enough for everyday use.
I have reused both of the original jeans pockets when making this bag. One has been stitched onto the outside, making a useful little pocket for those items you like to keep within easy reach, while the other has been carefully incorporated into the inside of the bag.
The bag is lined with a lovely 100% cotton blue paisley fabric, which complements the denim beautifully and adds a little extra colour and pattern inside.
The adjustable shoulder strap is blue with a white tracking design and allows the bag to be worn comfortably across the body. Gold and silver-coloured hardware completes the design.
Measurements: approximately 9 inches wide x 10 inches high, excluding the strap.
