Full description
This one-of-a-kind handwoven scarf celebrates the beautiful effects of a clasped weft weave, where two different handspun yarns interlock along the centre of the fabric. The result is a striking design with each side of the scarf developing its own character while complementing the other in colour and texture.
One half is woven from a beautifully soft Bluefaced Leicester and silk handspun in gentle shades of purple, white and teal. The opposite half begins with a delicate Merino and Tussah silk blend in soft blue and purple before flowing into a richly coloured Rambouillet handspun in deep purple, blue and flashes of gold.
The handspun yarns are woven on a dark berry-purple warp, which frames the colours beautifully and adds depth to the finished fabric. The clasped weft technique allows the changing handspun colours to shine while creating a distinctive central line that runs the length of the scarf.
Soft, warm and wonderfully tactile, this scarf is equally at home as an everyday winter accessory or as a unique piece of wearable textile art.
