Full description
DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is a unique handcrafted driftwood sculpture celebrating the beauty of nature's artistry. Its graceful curve and dark markings evoke the shadowed surface of a crescent moon, while also reflecting the dramatic textures carved by the relentless power of the sea.
This highly individual driftwood sculpture mounted on a reclaimed waxed wooden base, has been lovingly handmade and individually crafted by Steve Hutchins of Grove House Art.
Every walk that I make along our local beaches brings new inspiration, from the sea's immense power gradually shaping each piece of driftwood that it offers up for me to find, carving its textures, contours and distinctive character over time.
I do not alter these natural forms, but simply preserve and celebrate them, allowing each sculpture to tell its own story.
The driftwood remains completely natural and has not been reshaped or carved. It has been carefully air-dried and gently brushed to remove any loose debris, while retaining the rich textures created by the sea.
Mounted on a polished steel rod, the sculpture can be gently rotated, allowing you to enjoy different profiles and perspectives. Each angle reveals new shapes, textures and shadows, making it a constantly changing focal point within your home.
Both the driftwood and the solid oak base have been finished with a light coat of premium natural beeswax, enhancing the warmth of the timber while providing a subtle, durable finish.
Perfect as a striking, highly individual centrepiece for a dining table, sideboard, or shelving display, Dark Side of the Moon brings a calm, contemporary yet interesting coastal feel to both modern and traditional interiors.
Each Sculpture is individually handmade and completely unique.
