Full description
According to legend, when every bird in the sky competed to see who could fly highest and be crowned king, it was the smallest of them all who won - a wren, who hid in the eagle's feathers until the great bird tired far above the clouds, then slipped free and climbed one wingbeat higher. The druids called her the "wizard of birds" and trusted her to carry omens between worlds. Later folklore cast her as a creature of the winter solstice, hunted in effigy each December to mark the death of the old year and the return of the light. She has never needed size to earn her crown.
Featherkin is an original design sculpted in clay by me, Steve Braund, a professional sculptor whose work has contributed to major tv and independent film productions. This wren pendant is cast in gold coloured resin and set into a real hand-polished half walnut shell and set on a bed of sparkly translucent epoxy resin in a colour of your choice. It arrives with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity in a stamped gift box.
The necklace hangs on a hand-tied cord so that you can adjust it to compliment your chosen outfit.
Wear her as a reminder that the smallest voice can still carry the furthest.
I donate ten percent of all profits directly to registered British wildlife charities who support conservation work on our beautiful isles. The wren is still one of our most numerous birds, singing and thriving in hedgerows. But 73 UK bird species now sit on the RSPB's Red List, the highest tier of conservation concern, and most of them don't have a voice anywhere near as loud as hers. Consider her song a call to action on their behalf.
