Full description
The hare has always been a magical field animal. Old England called it the witch's familiar, the shape a woman took to slip past a locked door, the creature that sits up on its hind legs at dusk to gaze at the moon as though it remembers being something else. This piece keeps that old, uncanny thread but follows it down into something small and tender: a leveret, newly hidden in its form, washing its face and waiting. Waiting is the leveret's whole occupation. Her mother may be gone for hours but she will not move or give herself away. A symbol of patience and trust.
Bramblefoot is an original design sculpted in clay by me, Steve Braund, a professional sculptor whose work has contributed to major tv and independent film productions. This leveret pendant is cast in silver coloured resin and set into a real hand-polished half walnut shell and set on a bed of sparkly translucent epoxy resin in a colour of your choice. It arrives with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity in a stamped gift box.
The necklace hangs on a hand-tied cord so that you can adjust it to compliment your chosen outfit.
Wear her as a reminder that stillness isn't waiting for life to happen. It's how the most important things are found.
I donate ten percent of all profits directly to registered British wildlife charities who support conservation work on our beautiful island. The brown hare is one of Britain's fastest-declining mammals. Unlike almost every other game species, she gets no closed season to raise a leveret like this one in peace.
