Full description
This print was inspired by St Helen's Church in the beautiful historic market town of Ashby de la Zouch, where I live. The church is a 5 minute walk from my home and I regularly walk through the beautiful old churchyard when out and about. The oldest parts of the existing church date back to medieval times, when in 1474, William, Lord Hastings rebuilt it along with the neighboring castle.
The image was created by drawing onto a piece of lino before carving it with cutting tools. Then ink is rolled onto the lino and paper pressed on top to give the relief image. . It is a fascinating, traditional and slow process and produces such beautiful prints, which may come out slightly different every time due to the pressure differences in the process or where the ink happens to sit. This makes every piece beautifully unique - there may be ever so slight variations from the photographed image.

This is a very small edition of 9 prints with only 5 printed in this Phthalo Blue. All prints are editioned, titled and signed in pencil.
This piece, titled 'St Helen's Church', was printed by hand on 300g Acid Free Paper, using Phthalo Blue Cranfield oil based relief ink.
The paper size is A4 and measures 29.7cm x 21cm. The image size is approximately 20cm x 15cm. The frames in the photograph are 14" x 11" frame (glass size) with a mount that has an A4 aperture, however it would also look lovely (and probably nicer!) in a standard A4 frame with a mount, I just didn't have one to hand.
Please note, frame not included.
The print will be wrapped in acid free tissue paper, cellophane and sent in a boarded envelope.
