The idea is to create something new from old, found by chance, full of history and character. To present and deliver unique Eco Friendly gifts in Sustainable Packaging. I love collecting ceramic discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. Favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-worked and crafted into something new. Bits and bobs found by chance waiting to find new homes.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.

Ceramic Plate
South Shields
June 2026
Handcrafted into
Brooch
July 2026
While visiting South Shields Tyne & Wear I bought a lovely decorative plate which was chipped in several places. I wasn't sure if I would be able to make anything from it due to the damage.
I like to just drop damaged ceramics into a wood box to see what random shards are created. This created many unusual shapes and one stand out piece was an almost round shard with a beautiful pattern, part of the trees.
Although perfect for a brooch, the ceramic was thick and needed a lot of hand sanding. Over many days I managed to get the piece thin enough to fit into a wooden round brooch tray. The dark wood surround complimented the colours on the shard.
The idea is to create something new from old and use recycled materials to produce individual, unique distinctive gifts.
The finished piece isn't meant to be perfect but instead retain part of the original character, including marks and scratches, all part of the history of the materials used.
Once an old damaged plate, now a distinctive unique brooch.
Set in a 35mm dark wood dyed round tray and reclaimed brooch pin.
Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue.
Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production.
Complete with short bio and FSC®-certified gift bag.
All materials used are from sustainable sources and can be recycled.
