Hi, a warm welcome to the Dragon Art Glass shop on Folksy. I'm Andrea, a full time glass addict (oops, artist!) living and working in the valleys of South Wales. I've had a little shop here on Folksy since about 2016, but can also often be found at local craft markets and in my studio in Senghenydd.
I always aim to send out orders as quickly as possible, (often within a day), but please be aware that I post only via Royal Mail.
To make things easier for you, I can gladly gift wrap any presents, add a hand-written note and send them directly to the recipient at no extra charge – just leave me a note and details when you checkout.

Full description
This gorgeous transparent true blue fused glass soap dish has three rounded strips of raised white glass added to allow your soap to drain freely, and stand above any excess water drips - stopping it from turning into a soggy mush. It will of course have to be emptied regularly, however it will save the area around your hand basin from getting all gunged up with soap.
Each of my dishes, plates and bowls are hand cut from sheets of fusing glass, which are are layered in my kiln. For any of my items that are shaped (not flat), the piece has had to go through at least two kiln processes. Firstly, the piece is fused together flat, by going through a fusing and annealing kiln program that takes the piece up to a temperature of about 800 degrees C. This initial fuse takes about 24 hours to complete, as temperatures have to rise and fall slowly and steadily so as not to shock the glass into shattering.
Once this process has cooled, it is put onto a mold, and the whole process repeated at a lower temperature to allow the piece to slump and shape, and anneal to allow the stresses that build up in its making to relax over an extended period of time.
The soap dish itself is about 5 in x 5 in (12.5 cm x 12.5cm) square, with corners raised about 2cm in height. The glass is 7mm thick.
