Full description
Handturned from a beautiful piece of Pippy Lime. This one of a kind bowl celebrates the natural character of the timber rather than hiding it. The delicate clusters of burrs and spalting are complimented by flowing areas of deep translucent red resin, creating a striking contrast against the warm honey tones of the wood.
This bowl began as an usual split blank. That natural cracks have been carefully stabilised and filled with resin before being turned, preserving the original shape and allowing the timber to dictate the final design. The result is a simple elegant form with steep sides and a shallow foot that let the unique grain and resin take center stage.
In places the resin catches the light revealing a subtle glow that hints at the story hidden within the timber.
Finished to a silky smooth touch and polished to enhance the natural beauty of the wood, this piece is ideal for a decorative bowl, fruit bowl or centerpiece.
