Thank you for popping into my shop! I’m a retired Graphic Designer, but thankfully I haven’t retired from being creative. I still love the process of making things, experimenting with colour, pattern and texture, and giving new life to all sorts of materials.
You’ll find a colourful and eclectic mix of handmade pieces in my shop, with birds and flowers featuring strongly throughout. I particularly enjoy combining unexpected materials, patterns and colours to create unique mixed-media pieces — so there’s always something a little different to discover.
I’m also a big believer in happy postage! If you find more than one item you’d like, I ALWAYS combine postage and refund any excess. I know it can be a little alarming to see the postage total increase as you add items to your basket, but please don’t worry. I’ll package your purchases together and refund the excess postage on the same day your order is dispatched.

Full description
A splash of summer sunshine, colour and movement, 'Summer Swallow' is an original mixed-media artwork inspired by a beautiful summer's day and the effortless flight of a swallow.
The artwork would make a lovely gift for a nature lover, bird enthusiast, or anyone who enjoys bright, uplifting artwork with a touch of the unexpected.
I created the background by layering inks, acrylic paints and decoupage papers onto canvas, building up a richly textured surface full of colour and pattern. I then cut sections from the painted canvas and carefully rearranged them to create a striking stained-glass effect.
Stylised flowers in shades of pink, burgundy and ochre have been added to some of the individual sections, creating pops of colour in the foreground.
At the heart of the piece is a swallow in flight, painted and positioned to capture that wonderful sense of freedom and movement that makes these birds so captivating.
A shimmering stylised golden sun in the top corner completes the scene and was created using a woodblock print to add an interesting graphic detail.
With its bold colours, layered textures and joyful sense of movement, 'Summer Swallow' is a one-of-a-kind piece designed to bring a little bit of summer into your home all year round.
The artwork comes in an off-white, 8x10 inch mount with a 5.5x7.5 inch aperture. It is titled and signed on the reverse.
