Thank you for popping into my shop! I’m a retired Graphic Designer, but thankfully I haven’t retired from being creative. I still love the process of making things, experimenting with colour, pattern and texture, and giving new life to all sorts of materials.
You’ll find a colourful and eclectic mix of handmade pieces in my shop, with birds and flowers featuring strongly throughout. I particularly enjoy combining unexpected materials, patterns and colours to create unique mixed-media pieces — so there’s always something a little different to discover.
I’m also a big believer in happy postage! If you find more than one item you’d like, I ALWAYS combine postage and refund any excess. I know it can be a little alarming to see the postage total increase as you add items to your basket, but please don’t worry. I’ll package your purchases together and refund the excess postage on the same day your order is dispatched.

Full description
I've given my latest 'Birds & Blooms' mixed media artwork an eyecatching, mosaic tile-effect border, pieced together from little snippets of pretty fabrics, many with colourful floral motifs. I've echoed some of these patterns and colours within the main artwork too, creating a lovely sense of harmony between the border and the central design.
At the heart of the piece is a pretty teal bird, caught in the moment of alighting on a pink rose. The bird has been created using a mix of acrylics, inks and tiny pieces of decoupage paper, with individual feathers carefully cut and layered to form the delicate, fluttering wing. I've added snippets of decoupage paper to the lemon-yellow breast feathers too, adding a tactile quality, while little fragments tucked into the flowers and foliage introduce subtle pattern and interest.
At the top, the design culminates in an ornate arch, inspired by the graceful shape in the paisley fabric. I've finished the arch with a border of gold metallic ink, catching the light and adding a little touch of bohemian sparkle.
This cheerful artwork has a slightly exotic, free-spirited feel and would add a lovely pop of colour to a wall or make a pretty, one-of-a-kind piece for anyone who loves birds, flowers, pattern and handmade art.
The artwork is presented in an off white mount approx 8x10 inches with a 7x5 aperture. It is signed and titled on the reverse.
