Hello and a very warm welcome to my shop!
As a Sierra Leonean-British artist, my creative work is a deeply personal celebration of my dual heritage. With this striking side-profile portrait, I wanted to capture the quiet strength, elegance, and beauty of an African woman. The artwork beautifully bridges two worlds, blending the clean, minimalist lines of contemporary Western design with the rich geometric shapes and flowing rhythms found in traditional West African art forms.
The true focal point of this piece is her magnificent, intricately styled headwrap. I spent hours carefully detailing the sweeping folds and bold, contrasting black-and-white stripes, beautifully balanced with a rich teal accent. To keep the overall feeling grounded and serene, I set her silhouette against a warm, softly textured natural ochre background. This natural color palette brings a comforting, organic warmth that makes it a gentle, soul-stirring presence for your home.
Every single line and shade on this premium print has been crafted by hand using professional fine-ink technical pens and artist-grade colored pencils not digitally created. Because of this you can see the authentic, unique texture of the medium on the page.
