Hand Knitted in Shetland Wool in a double knitting weight with Pom Pom on top
Knitted to fit Head circumference 56cms (22")
The beret has been felted to give it a degree of water and wind proofing
Berets started off life as a functional wool cap for French shepherds and military personnel but then it became part of mainstream fashion in the 1020's with designer Coco Chanel credited by popularising it on the catwalk
But, it really gained iconic status in the 1940's and 1950's through Hollywood films and the European fashion industry
This beret is made of Pure Shetland Wool and therefore Hand Washing is recommended but full laundry instructions are enclosed with the purchase
Wool is a natural fibre and naturally repels dirt and odours so if the item only needs freshened up, hang it outside in the fresh air for a time
