At Poesia by Alex I'm always striving to mix fun with functionality, and I think I've finally nailed it with this improved Granny Square crossbody bag! These bags have always sold well, but I've always been worried that the straps weren't strong enough and would stretch if too many items were put inside the bag. I've now solved this issue by making the strap slightly wider and utilising Tunisian crochet,which creates dense, less stretchy stitches. There's also a second, fabric strap (which matches the lining!) which I've hand stitched onto the crochet strap.
The bag is lined with a pre-loved, retro cotton fabric, and a magnetic clasp will keep all your possessions safe! Interfacing reinforces the fabric surrounding the clasp pieces.
The techniques I used to make this bag were: crochet, Tunisian crochet, machine sewing and hand sewing.
Need to know:
Care instructions: Although this bag was made with durability in mind, it won't withstand really rough treatment. To clean it, I recommend dabbing gently with a damp cloth. Machine washing is not recommended, but if you want to, then I'd advise using a delicates bag and a wool or delicates cycle. Air dry.
Dimensions:
The strap is approx 135 cm long and 4 cm wide.
The bag itself is 22 x 22 cm.
The total length from the strap to the bottom of the bag is 84 cm.
