Thank you for popping into my shop! I’m a retired Graphic Designer, but thankfully I haven’t retired from being creative. I still love the process of making things, experimenting with colour, pattern and texture, and giving new life to all sorts of materials.
You’ll find a colourful and eclectic mix of handmade pieces in my shop, with birds and flowers featuring strongly throughout. I particularly enjoy combining unexpected materials, patterns and colours to create unique mixed-media pieces — so there’s always something a little different to discover.
I’m also a big believer in happy postage! If you find more than one item you’d like, I ALWAYS combine postage and refund any excess. I know it can be a little alarming to see the postage total increase as you add items to your basket, but please don’t worry. I’ll package your purchases together and refund the excess postage on the same day your order is dispatched.

A little celebration of garden life, 'Blue Tit and Chrysanthemums' is a one-of-a-kind, hand-stitched textile picture, lovingly created for anyone who enjoys nature and watching the birds in their garden.
The background is made from a beautiful mix of botanical fabrics, including batik, creating a richly textured setting for the blue tit. The bird itself has been carefully built up using layers of fabric, each piece hand stitched to capture the subtle colours and patterns of his plumage. A tiny snippet of cotton lace has even been added to create some of his delicate wing feathers.
I've used a variety of embroidery threads to add texture, depth and gentle variations of colour, as well as to carefully stitch his beak and little legs.
The chrysanthemum has been cut from the background fabric and slightly offset to make it stand out from the surrounding design. A delicate wash of paints and inks brings the flower to life, while a sprinkling of metallic seed beads at its centre adds a subtle touch of sparkle and extra texture.
Three burgundy leaves with shimmery rust fabric centres add a pop of colour to the top of the picture and echo the colours in the batik fabric below.
Every element has been thoughtfully chosen and stitched by hand, making this a truly unique piece with plenty of little details to discover.

The artwork comes in a good quality double mount. Outer measurements 10 x 8 inches. Visible area 7 x 5 inches. It is titled and signed on the reverse.
