Hi and welcome to The Old Button Sews, where I sell beautiful gifts designed and sewn by me, together with a range of sew-it-yourself craft kits.
Most items are dispatched within 2 working days, and I post Tracked 24 at a flat cost no matter how many items you buy.
Old denim jeans just keep on going, and are perfect for upcycling into new things to wear as well as crafting.
The foundation pieces in these kits are offcut from jeans that were cut down into summer shorts.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
Full description
True blue denim and rose pink slow stitching kits, offset with a darker cerise, and cotton crochet lace in creams and light tans. There's a rich variety of textures, from the roughness of the vintage wool blanket to the matt shine of the velvet ribbon. Stuffed full of little pieces of vintage or salvaged fabrics and embellishments that can be snipped and sewn onto a denim foundation piece, these kits are a great introduction to slow sewing and textile art, and I think they make great gifts for teenagers.
Available in 2 sizes - both have the same pieces; the larger box has a second foundation piece in a different colour denim, and even more trims and embellishments.
Your box will include needles and pins, and my introduction to slow stitching leaflet and stitching guide (you can swap this for an emailed copy plus extra textiles - see options).
This kit has scraps and fragments of:
- foundation piece cut from vintage blue denim jeans
- snippets of vintage Welsh wool blankets, lace collars and crocheted doilies
- offcuts of cotton and linen prints in florals and stripes
- salvaged ribbons, lace and upholstery braids
- pre-loved buttons (may vary from photos)
- lengths of hand-dyed linen yarn, tapestry and knitting wool
- embroidery threads in co-ordinating colours
- reel or bobbin of sewing thread
- a scrap of antique Welsh quilt
