Description

Nadolig Llawen. A traditional Welsh greeting, meaning Merry, Happy or Joyful Christmas. Hand-embroidered on a red-and-white felt Christmas decoration, it is perfect for hanging on your tree or from a little hook. Sent carefully wrapped in tissue in a sturdy cardboard box, this little ornament is also ideal for sending in the post or given as a Secret Santa gift. Or tie one to a wrapped gift, a bonus present that the recipient can hang on their own tree. The phrase Nadolig Llawen is hand-sewn in red embroidery thread using a chain stitch on winter white wool felt, then machine-stitched to a rich red wool felt backing. I finish it with a twisted, candy-cane-style cotton cord, securely stitched between the layers to form a hanging loop. The white wool felt is British wool, made in the UK. I use a thicker wool felt from Nepal for the backing to give the decoration a robust shape, so it hangs nicely. Size: the felt decoration is approx 2 by 3.5 inches (5cm by 8.5cm). NOTE - as I hand-embroider these by eye (no pattern), the letters on each ornament will be a little different.
