Hi, a warm welcome to the Dragon Art Glass shop on Folksy. I'm Andrea, a full time glass addict (oops, artist!) living and working in the valleys of South Wales. I've had a little shop here on Folksy since about 2016, but can also often be found at local craft markets and in my studio in Senghenydd.
I always aim to send out orders as quickly as possible, (often within a day), but please be aware that I post only via Royal Mail.
To make things easier for you, I can gladly gift wrap any presents, add a hand-written note and send them directly to the recipient at no extra charge – just leave me a note and details when you checkout.

I was fascinated by the crackle effect of a glass bowl I had seen, and wanted to attempt to make something with a similar effect. The shape produced by the final firing was a happy accident - and is highly likely to be un-repeatable - I've called it a clam shape as it was the only way to describe it.

Full description
This clam shaped orange and white bowl has been made by the process of draping it over a tall up-ended mold, to allow the edges to sag and shape.
The bowl is about 15cm x 12cm at its widest points, and is about 10cm in height. It's a nice heavy, chunky bowl, which is about 6mm thick.
All items I make start as sheets of glass, which are cut to shape and size.
This bowl in particular has one layer of sheet glass, on top of which was fused a thick pre-made (by myself) layer of fine glass powder, which was crinkled to produce unique crackle effect patterns. once this has fused, it is put on to of a further layer of glass. These layers are then fused together flat, followed by a further trip to the kiln to drape it into shape.
