I'm Su, the knit designer and all-round creative behind Stitch & Bloom Designs.

I've been knitting for as long as I can remember, but took up designing in 2019 once my son started school. Creativity is at the heart of everything I do; from knitting hats, altering clothes or creating greetings cards for my family, to trying my hand at gardening, growing flowers and vegetables and trying to create a space that works for us and for nature.

I'm a slow knitter, which some may see as unfortunate for someone designing knitting patterns, but I think it means that I'm able to get the most enjoyment out of even the smallest of projects. I like to pass that joy on to others by knitting and designing small accessories such as hats, socks, mitts and shawls. Small projects mean you can take them anywhere and they don't feel like they take an age to finish. They're a win-win!

How I like to knit is also reflected in the designs themselves. Designed with simplicity in mind, using easy to remember stitch patterns with full written instructions, alongside charts where appropriate, you can rest assured that each pattern has been considerately written for a seamless (pardon the pun!) knitting experience. I also offer a range of tutorials for the techniques I use, over in my creative community on Substack. Tutorials and articles are available to both free subscribers and those who wish to browse and have a look around first.
