More Than Just Stones – A Piece of Scotland You Can Wear

People often ask me where I find the stones I use in my jewellery.

The simple answer is: on the beaches of Scotland.

The real answer is a little more interesting.

For as long as I can remember, I've loved walking along Scotland's incredible coastline. While many people are looking out to sea, I'm often looking down, searching amongst thousands of pebbles for that one special stone that catches my eye. Sometimes it's the colour. Sometimes it's an unusual pattern. Other times it's simply something I can't explain. Every stone seems to have its own personality.

Most people would walk straight past them.

I see something waiting to be discovered.

Many of my stones come from the wild and beautiful beaches of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. The sea has spent thousands, sometimes millions, of years shaping each one, smoothing every edge and revealing hidden colours and patterns. Nature has already done the hard work—I simply help reveal what is already there.

Once I've found a stone, the journey is only just beginning.

Each one is carefully cleaned and polished by hand before being sealed beneath a crystal-clear, rock-hard resin. This brings the colours to life in a way that often surprises people. Reds become richer, greys reveal hidden blues, greens suddenly appear, and intricate patterns emerge that were almost invisible when the stone was dry.

No dyes.

No paint.

No artificial colouring.

Just nature showing off what it has created over countless years.

I then transform each stone into a pendant, bracelet, ring, pair of earrings, or another unique piece of jewellery. Because every stone is different, no two pieces can ever be exactly the same. When someone buys one of my creations, they're owning something that nobody else in the world has.

That's something mass-produced jewellery can never offer.

I also like giving many of my favourite stones names. It somehow feels right. Some seem strong and powerful, others calm and peaceful. One of my favourite creations was a deep red pendant that I called The Dragon's Heart. It eventually found a new home overseas, proving that a little piece of Scotland can travel a very long way.
For me, this isn't just about making jewellery.
t's about preserving tiny pieces of Scotland's natural beauty and sharing them with people who appreciate craftsmanship, nature, and individuality. Every stone has been chosen by hand. Every piece has been made with care. Every item carries a little story from the beach where it was found.
When you wear one of my pieces, you're wearing more than a stone.
You're wearing part of Scotland's coastline, shaped by the sea, discovered by hand, and transformed into something that will last for years to come.
