Hi, I’m Lorraine , the artist behind Purdie and the bear .
My journey into the world of collectible soft sculptures started with a very special gift. At 40 years old, my dad bought me my first artist bear right here in the historic city of York. That single, beautiful bear sparked a deep passion in me and changed my creative path forever, I wanted to make them myself , so i did , learning by making many mistakes , it didn't stop me trying it again . Family and friends knew what they were getting for birthdays and Christmas' practise bears ….again !!!
Today, working from my little garden room in Yorkshire, I create heirloom-quality collectible bears \ animals, I am passionate about premium, traditional materials. I work exclusively with luxury textiles like Schulte mohair and British natural wools.
Because my work is made to order, hours of love, precision needle-felting, and careful hand-stitching go into every piece before it leaves my hands. I hope my creations bring the same joy to your home that my first York bear brought to mine.
