Hello! I'm Jo!
I'm a self taught Needle Felt Artist who specializes in all things whimsical and nostalgic.
Situated just outside of the beautiful and historic city of Chester, I spend my days knee deep in wool and wire usually with my beloved Tibetan Terrier Barney, snuggled up keeping my feet warm.
I have always loved working with my hands. During the early days I would spend endless hours in the ceramics departments at school and art college .Later I went on to pursue a degree in Animation specializing in Stop Motion and handmade puppets which I completely fell in love with.
Family life soon took over when my little ones arrived leaving not a lot of time for much else.
Not wanting to lose my creativity all together I purchased a book on needle felting and my true love was born!.
One day I hope to combine both needle felting and animation….so watch this space!
Each handcrafted sculpture is needle felted from start to finish using 100% British wool and a
great deal of love. Each creation takes on a personality of its own making them all unique!
When I'm not felting I love surrounding myself in nature. Taking long walks in the woods with Barney or out in my veggie garden where he tries to help but often makes more mess!.
Two life long inspirations of mine are Oliver Postgate who created and animated Bagpuss and of course Beatrix Potter. I adore her imagination, paintings and stories.
I feel very fortunate to live so close to the Lake District where I often spend time walking in her footsteps.
I am very blessed to be pursuing my creative dream and I'm ever so grateful to you for stopping by!
