I love the natural world and I think its beauty should be celebrated. There are so many wonders in creation that we scarcely look at. Colours that are extraordinary. Plants and animals that just bring a smile, for no reason other than we like them. For me, its ducks, butterflies and fir cones that bring me happiness. Products that we use every day should make us glad. I have had many cherished pets, which I remember with fondness when they are no longer with us. I like to produce pet portraits so that they can be permanently remembered on a bag, cushion or throw. The advantage of embroidering these is that they don't wear off after washing and can be kept for many years.
I began The Embroidery Bureau when I realised that Covid-19 was about to change my world, and I have spent several years learning this new skill. I work at home, enabling me to spend time with my husband who also crafts (wood turning, very messy!)
and allowing me to continue working when the world would have us believe that over 6os are over the hill. I have company during the day from Twizzle, the rabbit, who has been the subject of many embroideries!
