Welcome to Cur & Mudgeon, where coastal myths get a little messy, pre-loved fabrics get a second chance to shine, and everything is born right on the shores of County Down! My wee business is proudly based along the beautiful, rugged Holywood coastline. The name sounds like a grumpy old man, but it actually hides a splash of Irish folklore. In the old Celtic tales, Cur is the wild, mischievous spirit of the sea spray, dancing on top of the waves and causing a ruckus across Belfast Lough. Stomping right along the ocean floor beneath him is the Curmudgeon; the stubborn, grumbling old soul of the deep sea who keeps the earth steady while Cur throws a party on the surface! Together, this mythical duo creates the perfect chaotic harmony of our local coastline. I took that exact energy—wild coastal magic meets stubborn, eco-friendly grit—and turned it into things you can wear!
Cur Silver - Pressed by the Tide. My jewellery line captures the playful, chaotic beauty of the surf. Handcrafted using fine silver clay right here in Holywood. Cast from natural treasures like local shells and woodland leaves. It features unique, custom-carved double discs, abstract shapes, and faces. Born from nature, reimagined by hand, and pressed by the tide.
Curtain Call - From Windows to Wearables. My tote bags channel the stubborn "waste-not" spirit of the deep-sea Curmudgeon. Upcycled entirely from curtains salvaged from local charity shops. I love a good rummage, hunting through the rails of local high street charity shops, to uncover hidden textile gems that deserve a comeback. I rescue unloved fabrics from a tragic landfill death. Stitched into durable, personality-packed tote bags. Every bag gets a spectacular Curtain Call on your shoulder!
