Welcome to Hugging Leather.
My name is Yana, and I am a professional fashion designer and pattern cutter.
My life took an unexpected turn when I suffered a severe neck injury resulting in cervical radiculopathy (a pinched and inflamed nerve) in my right arm. For a long time, the chronic pain left me unable to use my right hand or perform everyday tasks, completely halting my ability to create.
As a designer, being cut off from my passion was devastating. Yet, during my slow journey of physical therapy, I felt a deep need to create something that could offer comfort and act as a personal talisman. I began shaping premium leather offcuts from my studio into miniature three-dimensional pieces.
That is how Hugging Leather was born.Sculpted like architectural origami, our gender-neutral rings embody the simple wonders we see around us every single day: the birds that sing outside our windows and the love we hold in our hearts.
They are lightweight, comfortable, and wrap around your finger like a warm, supportive hug.
I started making these symbols because they protected and uplifted me during my darkest days, and I want everyone to have this little token of strength and comfort.
