Hi, I’m Lisa and I am a printmaker based in York, where I live in a bungalow with three cats and a husband. I discovered a passion for screen printing whilst studying for an MA in Creative Practice at Leeds Arts University, where I found myself layering colours and experimenting with texture to produce images that felt true to my artistic vision. More recently I have been exploring risograph printing, applying a similar approach to colour and texture, but with an increased level of energy and spontaneity that the speediness of the riso machine allows for.

My art is inspired by flora and fauna, going on walks and outdoor adventures, stories from folklore and mythology, and, more often than not, cats. I enjoy creating images that are fun, sometimes weird, occasionally serious, usually a bit silly. My prints and books are all handmade by me, and I produce my print positives using a combination of pencil sketches, painting, collage, and occasional digital refinement. My background in children’s publishing has given me a fondness for bold, entertaining characters and vividly bright colour palettes. My approach to print making is also influenced by mid 20th century printmakers such as Edward Bawden, Eric Ravillious and Enid Marx, alongside the neon colours and bold patterns of 80s and 90s pop culture.
