My privacy policy

I BeguiledByTheBead am the data-controller of your personal information as it relates to my shop.

When you place an order from me, I will receive your name, delivery address and email address from Folksy. I will only use these details to process and deliver your order, or deal with any queries you have related to that order. If you send me a message using the contact button on Folksy, I will receive your username and email address.

The only circumstances in which I will share your data are in processing your order or complying with the law. I will never use or pass on your information to third parties for marketing purposes or any other purpose, other than the circumstances listed below, or add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent. The circumstances in which I may share your data are:

• With Folksy to comply with my obligations.

• With delivery companies to fulfil your order.

• To comply with legal or tax obligations.

I will only retain your details for as long as necessary in order to process the transaction and I will securely store any data collected during that period. I retain personal data related to orders or customer queries for six years. After this time I will delete your data from my records.

You have the right to know what personal data I hold about you, and to ask for that data to be changed or deleted. You also have the right to complain to the ICO if you believe there is a problem with the way I handle your data.

About Beguiled by the Bead

Passing Time Pleasantly.........

From the moment I made my first pair of earrings I was hooked, my love affair with beads had begun.

I have a passion for artisan made lampwork glass beads, love the depth of colour, the mysterious swirls and intricate patterns and I’m truly awed by the skill of the glass artists.

I also love freshwater pearls and semi precious gemstones and to be able to combine all of these beads in my designs is a great delight to me.

My focus is on quality. I enjoy making each and every piece and want my buyers to feel they have a unique item that will become a cherished favourite to be worn again and again. Most of my designs are one of a kind, but no two pieces will be exactly the same.

The dictionary defines 'Beguiled' as ‘to amuse, charm or delight’, ‘to pass time pleasantly’. So that's me, 'Beguiled by the Bead'.

Jewellery Care instructions

To keep your jewellery clean I recommend polishing with a soft dry cloth (a silver cloth can be used for sterling silver items) and storing in an airtight container or bag if the jewellery is not going to be worn for a period of time (this will prevent sterling silver items from tarnishing)

Jewellery strung on beading wire, or made with natural gemstones or Freshwater Pearls should be removed before bathing, showering, swimming, playing sport or sleeping. Cleaning chemicals, chlorine and sea salt can be damaging to natural gemstones.

Skin and hair products can react with jewellery causing it to tarnish, discolour and possibly corrode. I strongly advise applying any cosmetics and perfume before you put on your jewellery.

Whilst the glass I use in my pieces has been annealed in a kiln, it is still glass - if it is dropped or banged then the glass may break.

I do not recommend the use of an ultrasonic cleaner to clean your handmade jewellery.
