Full description
Beginning with scraps and offcuts of white opaque glass, I made my own homemade glass frit (small pieces of glass). This involved placing the glass in a steel colander in the kiln and heating it to a high temperature. Whilst still hot, and with safety equipment, the colander was lowered into cold water. The glass then is shocked and develops cracks. It can then be stamped upon and broken down into various sizes.
Quite a time consuming process, but very satisfying, and always trying to use and recycle in the studio.
So this cute snowman has been made with these glass pieces.
Additions of hand cut hat, scarf, buttons and nose together with murrine for decoration completes the scene.
Fired twice in the kiln to achieve the final result.
Displayed in a unique bespoke hand made yew wooden stand which sets the snowman off beautifully.
The snowman and stand will be wrapped separately for safety when shipping. The snowman is placed between the adjustable clips to hold securely.
