Cassette '86 Original Acrylic Painting Retro Mounted 6x4" DavidNicolArt

"Cassette '86" is an original acrylic painting by David Nicol. Cassette tapes were a massive part of growing up, my older brothers were from the vinyl era, and cassette tapes were what I grew up with. When I made this painting I wanted to go with an 80s colour scheme, and if you're from that era you'll have seen those colours in the "fitness wear" that was more common on the streets. Shell suits, anyone? I had so many music cassettes growing up. Taping from the radio, bought from shops, copies of copies of hard to find recordings. They were everywhere, and they were definitely of the time. I still remember my first Panasonic autoreverse with seek personal cassette player - it wasn't my first personal cassette player, but it was my first "future technology". All that's redundant now with MP3s. Even CDs made a lot of the technology redundant. So if you don't have any tapes any more, this is the next best thing.
