Forest Take Me, Reimagined is about the fantasy of simply lying down on the forest floor and letting the woodland take you back.
A figure rests with her eyes closed among dense leaf litter, moss, fungi and British woodland plants. Her hair spreads into the earth while stems creep across her body and new growth begins to appear on her skin. Warm flesh tones glow against deep greens and earthy browns, scattered with tiny flashes of woodland flowers.
MEANING & INSPIRATION
This piece grew from that exhausted longing to stop being a person for a while: to surrender peacefully to somewhere green, quiet and alive and let nature carry on around you.
The forest isn't attacking her. She is giving herself over to it. Her body is soft, natural and unapologetically human, gradually becoming another part of the woodland floor.
BRITISH WOODLAND ECOLOGY
The woodland is built from real British species rather than generic greenery. Wood sorrel, dog rose, dog violet, wild strawberry and English ivy weave across the forest floor among oak and birch leaves, with common bonnet mushrooms emerging through the leaf litter.
Those recognisable species help turn the forest into a particular living ecosystem as it gradually grows around and across the resting figure.
