Welcoming Autumn with a Collection of Harvest Mouse Witch Guardians
Please enjoy browsing and should you buy a doll she will be packaged in an organza bag. I have been given literally hundreds and will use them until they run out rather than let them go to landfill. Thank you and my warmest wishes xx
This new pattern reflects my desire to make my bird ladies more dainty and bird-like.this series has the new fine spiky legs that are far more bird like than clumby leather boots.
I am very fond of our native birds, birds generally really and I wanted a way to use birds in my work. I have also recently wanted to use more embroidery in my work and this seemed a lovely way of combining the two. I love the delicacy of these smaller little ladies and the way they sit in your hand. I genuinely enjoy making them and I hope you like them.

This is Pomme she is a tiny hand embroidered wren rag doll, a new pattern and much smaller than the original bird ladies with the new birdier feet. I use no paint to delineate the pattern but work freehand embroidery onto self colour cloth to make the plumage both on the front and the back of the doll. Beneath her dress she has a tiny embroidered tail with her wings also heavily embroidered.
She is the spirit of the Mabon festival on the Witch's Calender celebrating the Second Harvest or the Fruit Harvest, apples being the main symbol of the celebration. Mabon happens on the Autumn Equinox and is celebrated in our house with family meals rich in apple puddings and hearty root vegetables with dumplings. Cider is ofter drunk too!
Pomme is dressed in a pretty Acufactum cotton called Apple Harvest in a rich pattern of Russet apples on a blue green ground. Beneath her dress are cream broderie anglais drawers and two layers of green gingham cotton and cream tulle underskirts Her pistachio green gingham underskirt has a cross stitch apple embroidered upon it. She sports a tiny dark red wool felt witch's hat with an acorn and a button. She carries her little broom. Her dress is finished with buttons and ribbon and she carries a little embroidery hoop that is also embroidered with a wren and carries an acorn charm. She has a little brass ring to her back so she can hang. She has a piece of citrine to her heart with rosemary in her stuffing for a gentle fragrance. I have also placed a tiny piece of apple wood in her stuffing.
These little birds are tiny, to just sit in your hand and are less than 20cm talll.
She is, as are all my girls, warm and companiable with a touch of English whimsy. I hope she makes you smile. Please remember she is not a toy and not suitable for children.
