Full description

The perfect gift for people who love to write & sketch. I try to use up every piece of fabric & this journal cover is an example of using off-cuts to create something a little bit different. The journal cover is made from a patchwork of vintage Welsh tweeds from Trefriw Woollen Mills with a top band from a blue & green tweed dating back to the late 1960s, the oldest tweed I have in my collection. The journal cover comes with a 160 plain page notebook & is refillable with an A5 notebook, sketch pad or diary (spine 1.5 cm/half an inch or less). To keep your place the journal cover has a convenient blue-edged linen ribbon bookmark, & is closed with an organic elastic loop & apple green corozo button. Lined in green organic cotton fabric.

Most of these vintage tweeds were woven at Trefriw Woollen Mills, north Wales, one of the few remaining Welsh woollen mills still operational today. I love their use of colour in their high quality tweeds.

Designed and handmade by Deborah Shah-Smith in west Wales.

Approximate dimensions: 22 cm x 16 cm x 2.5 cm.
