Awaken the Helix explores the connection between the feminine body, nature and the ancestral patterns carried within us.
At its centre, a mysterious feminine figure emerges from layers of colour, botanical imagery, pattern and organic forms, with a DNA helix running through her body as a visual symbol of ancestry, inherited memory and the unfolding of identity.
The surrounding lotus-like form suggests emergence, transformation and awakening - a figure coming into consciousness from within the natural world.
Created through hand-cut collage, layered imagery and raised elements, the work combines symbolic portraiture with botanical and decorative fragments to create a richly textured, vibrant composition.
This is one of my earlier mixed-media pieces, marking the beginnings of the layered, symbolic visual language that has continued to evolve throughout my Altar of Elixir collection.
