50g of beautiful soft baby camel fibre, suitable for handspinning and feltmaking.
Fine, soft fibre from the undercoat of baby Bactrian (two humped) Camels, which produce this fine soft down to protect against the cold and wind. It is shed naturally in the Spring.
The fibre on offer here has been commercially dehaired, bleached and combed into sliver, or "tops". Although it is commercially described as "white", the actual colour is a lovely soft creamy beige.
Baby Camel fibre is a very fine, short fibre with a micron count of 17 - 19, making it nearly as fine as Cashmere. Hardwearing and with a slight lustre, this is a lovely fibre to use on its own, or to blend with fine wool or other luxury fibres.
