Safety information

The hanging hardware on the back of the calendar is made from eight securely attached eyelet screws and picture hanging wire. Whilst every care has been taken to tuck in the ends of the picture wire, care is essential when hanging the calendar to avoid possible small injury to the fingers/hands from a stray wire strand. It is also recommended to check the hanging hardware regularly to ensure all hardware is still firmly and safely attached.

Full description

Handmade solid Sycamore hardwood Celtic wheel of the year calendar. Approximate diameter is 34cm.

This Celtic wheel of the year calendar features a central Triskele motif inside a circular boarder and smaller designs based on the Neolithic rock art found at the Newgrange passage tomb in County Meath, Ireland.

The calendar shows the four solar festivals of the Summer and Winter Solstices and the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes; and the four cross quarter fire festivals of Imbolc, Bealtaine/Beltane, Lughnasa/Lammas/Lughnasadh and Samhain. The calendar also shows the popular celebration dates (or date ranges) as related to the Northern Hemisphere. The hanging hardware on the back of the calendar allows for it to be turned through the year to have the current time uppermost. Alternatively, the calendar can be laid flat to make a centre piece with something underneath to protect your table surface.

The calendar is made using hand tools to work the wood and then hand burnt. No stencils or laser are used.

This is a fully handmade piece and as such, is not precision made.

There maybe colour changes or slight defects in the wood however these are natural and are part of the history and character of the wood. There may also be slight hand tool marks on the surface of the wood from the hand planing process.
