Full description

Aye, eye! I tried to represent an eye with this piece of inlay work, as the black African Ebony bowl immediately reminded me of an eye pupil especially with it's sheen.

The centre bowl is a hand turned African Ebony bowl 12cm in diameter.

Then using a variety of wood veneers, including Madagascar and Indian rosewood,Walnut, Macassar Ebony, amongst a few others I made the inlay work then placed it around the bowl. There are approximately 450/500 pieces of very small intricate pieces of veneer formed in a circle to represent the eye in the top inlay work. A beautiful incorporation of all the different varieties of brown and natural colours.

On the reverse side I have use Zebrano wood veneer.

The completed size is 30cm in diameter and approx 4cm deep.

The marquetry and bowl are finished with a fine 400 grit sandpaper and 0000 steel wool to achieve a smooth fine high standard finish. It's then treated with three layers of Danish oil and a quality wood wax to bring out the colours and patina of the woods and it's beautiful grain.

Please note that to clean and keep it looking at it's best do not use furniture polish, use a wax polish specifically for wood.

To save cardboard waste, the delivery box will be made by myself from recycled cardboard.
