Full description
A handmade fabric textile picture based on a visit to the Outer Hebrides and Luskentyre beach. The picture was made from a personal photograph of the beautiful beaches of the Hebrides.
Handmade from a variety of scrap fabrics from my studio, including cotton twills, fine canvas, soft silk, brushed felt, organza and some Harris tweed bought on my visit to Harris. A beautiful mixture of blue, purple, and greens.
The machair is represented with Harris tweed and wool which seemed appropriate for a design based on the Hebrides.
The fabrics are machine stitched with some free motion embroidery to represent tide lines and waves. All finished with a layer of rainbow organza, to protect the fluffy wool effect of the sky and machair.
The frame is an upcycled frame from the local charity shop in excellent condition.
Size is 28cm x 23cm.
All handcrafted by myself with recycled scraps from my own sewing box.
Designed by Jill Withey
