Full description

Hand-dyed in small batches using natural botanical dyes, this 100% silk thread brings a subtle lustre and soft texture to your textile projects. With a weight equivalent to size 8 perle or 2 or 3 strands of embroidery floss, these threads are perfect for hand embroidery, cross-stitch, Sashiko, darning, or even laceweight knitting and crochet.

Silk carries plant dyes with a unique depth, capturing delicate tonal shifts that give every skein its own beautiful character. Smooth and strong, it glides easily through fabric without snagging or splitting.

Whenever possible my dye plants are grown in my garden or foraged from the local landscape. I dye each skein by hand using natural botanicals and every so skein is unique. You may find slight variations in depth and saturation and colours may soften or lighten slightly with time. Some colours may transfer. These nuances are the signatures of the botanical process and the hallmark of a hand-dyed, small batch fibre. To ensure the best colour match when buying multiple skeins of the same colour I will send skeins in the same batch when possible.

Great care is taken to photograph each skein to capture its true shade as accurately as possible, though colours may vary slightly depending on monitor and display settings.

Care Instructions:

Hand wash in luke warm water.

Do not tumble dry or dry clean.

Store out of direct sunlight to prevent premature fading.
